Position Overview:
Cypress Health Region is seeking a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist to be
a part of our team on a part-time routine (15 hours per week). The successful
candidate will provide specialized psychiatric consultation and treatment for
both acute and long-term mental health and addiction clients. The role supports
integrated mental health and addiction services throughout Moose Jaw and
surrounding rural areas. The candidate will play an important role in
addressing the mental health needs of children, youth, and adults,
collaborating with healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional psychiatric
care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Psychiatric
Consultation: Provide specialized consultation services for patients
referred by family physicians, offering professional psychiatric
evaluations and treatment plans.
- Patient
Care: Deliver psychiatric treatment to patients dealing with a varied array
of mental health and addiction issues, confirming comprehensive care for
acute and chronic conditions simultaneously.
- Collaborative
Healthcare: Work with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare
professionals, including outpatient counselors, primary care providers,
and mental health specialists.
- Outpatient
Services: Provide psychiatric care as part of the transitional day
program, outpatient counseling, and follow-up mental health services
across the region.
- Patient
Management: Serve as the primary psychiatrist for patients accessing
our services, offering follow-up care and ensuring proper treatment
pathways.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Education:
Must hold a University Doctoral Degree in Psychiatry and be
licensed to practice psychiatry in Saskatchewan.
- Experience:
Previous experience in treating mental health and addiction clients in
critical care for long time settings is ideal.
- Communication
Skills: Excellent skills of written ability and verbal communication
to efficiently collaborate with healthcare teams and provide clear,
concise care instructions.
- Professionalism:
Ability to work with patients and families with empathy, maintaining high
ethical standards, and offering patient-centered care.
- Team
Collaboration: Demonstrated experience in working with
multidisciplinary teams in a healthcare setting to support integrated
mental health services.
