Position Overview:

Good Neighbours Food Centre (GNFC) is seeking a passionate and dynamic Executive Director to lead the organization in promoting food security for communities within a 50 km radius of Rosthern. GNFC is a non-profit organization with a food security focus, including running a grocery store model Food Bank. As Executive Director you will oversee the day-to-day activities of the organization, and partner closely with the Board of Directors to ensure that all programs and services align within the strategic plan of GNFC.

This role is perfect for an individual with excellent people skills, a strong commitment to community development, and a desire to have an impact on the region's food security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Plan Alignment: Ensure that all operations, programs, and initiatives align with GNFC’s strategic goals
  • Community Capacity Building: Engage with and empower local communities to address food security and community development needs.
  • Grant Writing and Reporting: Write and manage grant applications, including preparing detailed reports for funding bodies.
  • Fundraising: Develop and implement innovative fundraising strategies to support GNFC’s programs and initiatives.
  • Budget Management: Prepare and monitor the organization’s annual budget, track expenditures, and ensure financial stability.
  • Staff and Volunteer Management: Oversee the hiring, training, and mentoring of employees and volunteers. Foster a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Partnership Development: Develop and foster relationships with key stakeholders, which include community organizations, government agencies, donors, and volunteers.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth delivery of food security programs and services.
  • Other Duties: Carry out additional tasks as required to ensure the success and sustainability of GNFC.

Candidate Qualifications:

Education:

  • Minimum: High School Diploma
  • Preferred: Undergraduate Degree in Social Science, Community Development, or a related field.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Commitment to Food Security: A demonstrated commitment to building a food-secure community.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with the Board of Directors, community partners, staff, and volunteers.
  • Leadership: Leadership experience at any level of leadership, and record of effective leadership and mentoring of staff and volunteers.
  • Financial Management: Strong financial acumen, including experience in budgeting, financial tracking, and reporting.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects at one time with independence.
  • Community Knowledge: Familiarity with Rosthern and surrounding areas would be an asset.

Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license and a reliable use vehicle should be accessible.
  • Ability to lift a reasonable amount of weight, as the role may require some physical activity.
