Position Overview:

Saskatchewan Polytechnic seeks a highly skilled Senior Alumni and Donor Engagement Specialist to join our Advancement Division. The effective candidate will hold a strategic position in developing and implementing strategies to build meaningful relations with alumni and donors, helping to enhance the reputation and mission of Saskatchewan Polytechnic. This strategic leadership role will involve creating, implementing, and managing engagement programs, communication plans, and volunteer initiatives. The specialist will work within a centralized structure and collaborate with internal teams and external partners to meet key engagement and fundraising goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Alumni and Donor Program Development:
    Design, implement, and manage comprehensive engagement programs that strengthen relationships with alumni and donors at all stages of their involvement with Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
  • Online Communities and Communications:
    Build and nurture online communities by developing targeted communication plans that highlight alumni stories, foster connections, and promote the institution's achievements. Utilize research and analytics to tailor communications and engagement initiatives.
  • Event Coordination and Volunteer Management:
    Lead the planning and execution of events, including alumni reunions, fundraising activities, and volunteer initiatives. Ensure seamless coordination and participation of stakeholders.
  • Data Management and Analytics:
    Oversee the collection and analysis of engagement data to better understand audience needs and preferences. Use insights to continuously refine and optimize engagement strategies.
  • Collaboration and Leadership:
    Collaborate regularly with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment with the engagement goals of Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Supervise additional engagement staff, ensuring effective implementation of programs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    Develop and maintain strong relationships with alumni, donors, and key stakeholders. Create opportunities for alumni to remain connected and contribute to the success of the institution.
  • Strategic Planning and Execution:
    Engage in strategic thinking to develop long-term plans for alumni and donor engagement that are aligned with the institution’s mission. Work collaboratively with the Advancement team to meet engagement and fundraising objectives.
  • Travel and Flexibility:
    Travel and work outside regular hours may be required to fulfill the objectives of the role, particularly for events and meetings with stakeholders and donors.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education:
    University Diploma in a related field (e.g., Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Fundraising, or similar).
  • Experience:
    6-9 years of experience in alumni relations, donor engagement, fundraising, or a similar role in a post-secondary institution or non-profit organization.
  • Leadership and Collaboration:
    Proven ability to lead and collaborate effectively with teams, volunteers, and stakeholders to achieve engagement goals.
  • Communication Skills:
    Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages, build online communities, and foster meaningful relationships with diverse audiences.
  • Event Management:
    Experience planning and coordinating events, particularly in a donor or alumni engagement context. Proven track record of successful volunteer management is an asset.
  • Data Analysis and Strategy:
    Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform strategy development. Strong analytical skills with the ability to use insights to refine engagement initiatives.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability:
    Willingness to work outside of regular hours and travel as required to meet engagement objectives.
