Position Overview:

The Unit Assistant will play a vital role in providing administrative and clerical support within the Mennonite Nursing Home. This is a caring and structured role for the passionate individual looking to work in healthcare settings. The role requires the candidate to help maintain day-to-day operations in the care unit, assist the medical staff with their roles, and help foster seamless communication between the residents, families, and healthcare providers.

This is a full-time permanent role, and we are seeking a dedicated person who is committed to ensuring high-quality care for our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Support: General clerical support may involve filing, scheduling, and record-keeping of appropriate medical information..
  • Communication: Act as a liaison between healthcare professionals, residents, and families, ensuring clear and compassionate communication at all times.
  • Medical Office Duties: Perform duties related to medical office management, including preparing reports, handling patient information, and managing resident care schedules.
  • Documentation: Ensure that resident care information is properly documented and updated according to facility protocols.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with nursing staff and other team members to confirm that operation of the care unit is smooth.
  • Customer Service: Provide a friendly and supportive presence for residents and their families, addressing concerns and questions promptly and with care.
  • Compliance: Adhere to healthcare regulations and guidelines, ensuring that all operations meet the necessary standards.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • A Medical Office Education Certificate or similar training is required.

Experience:

  • 1-2 years’ experience in healthcare or long-term care.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrated a genuine concern for the well-being of the residents and their families.
  • Basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare office practices.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team and independently.
