Position Overview: BAR Engineering Co. Ltd. is looking for a motivated Junior Structural Engineer to join our Buildings Division. Work closely with our seasoned engineering team to support the analysis and design of structures for commercial, industrial, and residential projects. Key Responsibilities:

As a Junior Structural Engineer at BAR Engineering, your role will include but is not limited to:

  • Structural Design: Design structural layouts of various buildings and oilfield facilities using structural steel, reinforced concrete, wood, cold-formed steel, and masonry.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure that all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and client/company standards.
  • Field Activities: Conduct fieldwork, including general reviews during the construction process and performing structural condition assessments.
  • Documentation: Prepare reports, design calculations, and detailed drawings for structural projects.
  • Client and Contractor Support: Provide technical assistance to clients and contractors during the construction and startup phases of projects, ensuring smooth execution and addressing any concerns or queries that arise.

Candidate Requirements:

Education and Registration:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering specializing in Structural Engineer.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with APEGA (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta) or APEGS (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan).

Skills and Attributes:

  • Eagerness to Learn: He/She wishes to be improved and groomed for structural engineering skills.
  • Effective Communication: Good communication skills verbal and written to work efficiently with colleagues, clients, and contractors.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze designs for successful delivery of the project.
  • Independence and Teamwork: Ability to work independently or in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Time Management: Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Hands-On Approach: A practical and proactive approach to solving engineering challenges.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industry standards, building codes, and regulations.
  • Driver's License: A legal license for driving with a clean driver's abstract is required for traveling purposes in the context of fieldwork and site visits.
